Growth Spurs Changes for GSM

Back in October, we shared the steps we have taken to foster growth in a post called Room 2 Grow. We are pleased to say that our goals for expansion are coming to fruition. In the last several months, we have been blessed with additional staff, new customers, and an increasing number of projects. However, high growth comes with new challenges. To meet those challenges, we continue to build business processes that will help us deliver the same attention to detail and intense customer focus that have built our reputation for excellence. As part of that effort, we are increasing the role of key people on the customer focused side of our business. Eric Cantrell has been promoted to Engineering Manager. This will allow James Jergens to spend more time with customers and with our key relationships in China. Other changes are intended to support these important organizational improvements.

ERicCantrellEric has been the US plant manager and has spent the past 18 months looking firsthand at opportunities to improve our engineering of tools. Prior to joining GSM in 2011, Eric was the tooling manager for Neaton Automotive, a Japanese Tier 1 supplier of safety products. From 2011 to 2013, he was a project engineer with GSM. These experiences have prepared Eric to lead with confidence as he refines and builds the engineering team.

James remains integral to the engineering process, with oversight for all engineering and more direct management of the China staff. He lived in China from 2011-2013 and continues to travel there frequently. Aside from the staff, vendor relationships require regular care and maintenance. Our base also needs to keep growing. James will work to develop suppliers in China, and elsewhere. His extra attention on these critical relationships will be essential to our efforts to be the best supplier of plastic injection molds for each of our customers.

EricBrussOn an interim basis, I, Warren Davidson, will serve as the USA plant manager. We are creating new workflow for the US shop floor. One of the ways we are accomplishing this is by promoting Eric Bruss to Service Engineer. Eric is an experienced process tech (Moldmaster III certified) with fifteen years at GTI and ten more years in the industry. He has spent the past year working as a moldmaker. His combined experience will be put to work managing service work for existing tools.

Our customers have provided us with great feedback and a strong order book. We look forward to growing together and would value feedback on our recent changes. Again, our objective is to be the best supplier of plastic injection molds for each of our customers.
